Clavus LLC ("we," "us," or "our") operates the Paper pickleball tournament management platform, including the website at paperpb.com, the Paper desktop application, and the Paper mobile app (collectively, the "Service"). This Privacy Policy describes what information we collect, how we use it, and your choices regarding that information.

2. Information We Collect

Tournament Directors

When you register for a license, submit an application to run your tournament with Paper, or use the Service, we may collect:

Name, email address, and phone number
Organization name and your position within it
City, state, and country
Tournament details (dates, expected player counts, current software used)

Players

Tournament directors enter player information into the Service on behalf of players. This may include:

Player name
Tournament results, scores, and standings
Optional data the director may enter: email address, birthdate, DUPR ID

Players do not create accounts or interact with the Service directly. All player data is entered by the tournament director who organized the event.

Website Visitors

When you visit paperpb.com, our servers automatically collect standard access logs (IP address, browser type, pages visited, timestamps). We do not use tracking cookies, analytics scripts, or third-party advertising trackers.

3. How We Use Information

Running tournaments — managing brackets, scores, standings, and court assignments during live events
Displaying results publicly — publishing tournament results, standings, and brackets on paperpb.com so players, spectators, and the pickleball community can view them
Emailing results — if a player's email address was provided by the director, we may send that player their tournament results via email
Responding to inquiries — replying to tournament applications, support requests, and general questions
Improving the Service — understanding how the Service is used to fix bugs and develop new features

4. What Is Public

The following information IS displayed publicly on paperpb.com:

Player names
Division and skill level
Tournament results, scores, match history, and final standings
Tournament name, city, and date

Tournament directors acknowledge that player names and results will be displayed publicly when they use the Service to run a tournament. This is the core purpose of the platform — providing a live, public scoreboard for pickleball events.

5. What Is Never Public

The following information is NEVER displayed publicly:

Player email addresses
Player birthdates
Player phone numbers
DUPR IDs
Director account credentials and license keys
Tournament passwords

6. Data Storage

All data is stored on Amazon Web Services (AWS) servers located in the United States (us-east-2 region). Data is transmitted over encrypted HTTPS connections. Tournament data is stored in AWS S3 with access controls that separate each director's private data from the publicly visible results.

7. Data Retention

Tournament results (player names, scores, standings) are stored indefinitely as part of the public record of pickleball tournament history.
Personal contact information (email addresses, phone numbers, birthdates) is retained until the tournament director deletes it or until you request deletion.
Tournament applications are retained until reviewed and deleted afterward unless you become a licensed user.

8. Your Rights

You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal data at any time by contacting us at support@paperpb.com. We will respond to your request within 30 days.

If you are a player whose information was entered by a tournament director, you may contact us directly to request removal of your personal data from our systems. Note that your name and tournament results may be retained as part of the public tournament record.

9. Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services:

Amazon Web Services (AWS) — cloud hosting, data storage, and API infrastructure
Cloudflare — website hosting, CDN, and DDoS protection
Formspree — processing tournament application form submissions

Each of these services has its own privacy policy. We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with any other third parties.

10. Children

The Service is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, please contact us at support@paperpb.com and we will delete it promptly.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last updated" date. Your continued use of the Service after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
